RE: WOW, what a shock!

Our F53 / V10 routinely reports a 7.0 - 8.5 mpg. Towing or not... AC on or not.. BUT running the Genny with roof air drops the mpg considerably. We run between 60 - 65 depending on traffic. Our best was in 06 crossing KS. No AC or Genny. We were averageing about 9.0. I keep the tire pressure up and the BIG TOE on.. My $.02 worth...

RE: Too complacent, then something else needs fixing….

We make a list of fixes/add ons while we are out. THEN I triage them. Like... Okay... WHen we get home, I am gonna.... (Instert menial task kere)... We take everything out of MOHO from the trip... Take a few days to mull the list over... Take everything BACK to MOHO and begin the triage'd tasks... It works for me... When the simplest of tasks become big issues, I simply state, OUT LOUD... IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS HARD $#%@$!^(%%^#$!#! :)

RE: Transmission Whine (Loud)

RE: Looking to get an RV in the US ...

I would be curios as to why the flooring and comode were replaced... If there was a water leak bad enuff to cause the flooring to curl or buckle I would be concerned. Also, look for any hinges, metal surfaces that have rust on them. Could be a condensation problem as well. My FIL and MIL said they found a "Beauty" of a used unit... To them it was perfect. until... I started lookin in cabinets and underneath the bed, etc... Just be careful Good luck and keep us posted!!!

RE: Campsite Mosquito Control Suggestions

Bring a fan. Skeeters and knats avoid a stiff breeze. I agree... We have a small 12 box inch fan that we sit near us while sitting outside. If they get too bad, thats what the inside of the MOHO is for.. :)

RE: The Perfect Storm-Check Your Hitch Bolts!

Each stop, wether it be fuel or food, I ALWAYS do a walk around to check on the hitch and Toad. I touch the wheels to check for excessive heat, I check the tow bar and pins on the base plate. Its a habit I started when towing TT's and boats. It only takes one incident to create an accident. You are truly lucky. Its been my experience that it is WHEN , not IF a component will fail. Is there a warranty on the hitch??? Couldn't hurt to contact Hidden Hitch... Welds shouldn't fail like that. Possible that the installers didn't use the proper grade of bolt...

RE: RV Wash

I tend to wash it here at home. I realise that you are limited. I agree with JohnnyT. Blue Beacon or any 18wheeler wash will do. Blue beacon is about the best suds for the buck... I only went to BB once. Other than that, I try to dedicate one day a month to bathe and take care of any minor issues with the "SS Minnow"

RE: Have you done this?

A while ago, we came back from Summer camp with the scouts. I put the troop trailer in the shed at school and went about our summer. As fall approached we began to prepare for fall camping. It was inventory time. Counted the tents, pegs, cook stoves, kerosene lanterns and coolers. I counted 5.... Thing is... the troop only owns 4:h Opened up the Mystery cooler. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! Did that thing SMELL! :E One of the scouts that was helping stated quite excitedly.. THERE IT IS!!! I thought I left it at Camp.... It WAS full of food. Talk about gross.... He called his mom and explained that she needed to pick up the cooler. Once she got there, she said to just throw it away... It was funny at the time... :)

RE: slide out redux

We removed our dinette and replaced with folding chairs from Stakmore. I have no problems with it it at all. The DW and I are actually thinking of removing the sleeper sofa and getting wall away theatre seats. Only the dogs sleep on the sofa. Its only been a "Bed" three times... I don't see why this wouldn't work for you... Keep us posted!!!!

RE: Coleman?

We still have and use my G-pas green metal cooler with the offset latch. It keeps ice longer than the new ones do. I hate to use alot. I am afraid of breaking it. It is build like iron and tuff as nails.. I bet this thing is over 40 years old.. I just use it here at home for Backyard gatherings... I don't think it could stand a road trip or two... My $.02...

RE: Do you remember when....?

Staying at pappies and grammies on weekends. Getting to learn how to shoot pappies 10 Ga goose gun. I think I was about 8 then. He had to stand me up next to the barn. The thing knocked me down more times than I care to remember. Watching Grammie "Get the chickens ready for Sunday supper".. (You know what I mean...) Snapping beans over the sink while standing on a wooden box. Digging potatoes with her with a long handled hoe... I did all the bending... Wooden buckets by the old well... Haven't seen one of those in a long time... Ahh... good times... good times... :)

RE: Help! New Rv'er needs help equipping new TT

I kept noticing the repeat of ice and beer. Are we having a party? or is that for breaks? That may be for when you are done setting up. Order of OUR set up.. 1. Level coach 2. Connect Power, Water connections 3. Extend Slides. 4. Deploy Awning 5. Put out carpet mat by entrance door 6. Set up loung chairs 7. Retrieve Cold beer and Ice bucket for Dewars and H20. 8. Pour beverage or Pop a top and watch the world go by... Set up like this and you can't go wrong... :) Have fun!!!!

RE: Can we ease up on the horns and learn how to turn it off?

It cant be as bad as the guy with the quad hadleys giving a toot when they leave at 5:30 a.m. OR the guy with the tunable horn that constantly blares, "On the road again". WIth our toad, you have to press the button TWICE to activate the alarm. Personally, I always hit the button once... NO need for the alarm feature when we are in a CG...

RE: Tow Car recomendations

We are: 1) Towing a 2007 Ford Edge 2) Ease to hook up and tow. (Just hook up and go. No fuses to pull...) 3) Upgraded from a Saturn wagon that had miled itself out. Besides. DW deserved a new car.. :)

RE: How to register MH to avoid personal property tax

Just pay your taxes like the rest of us.. Some actually had the fortitude to speak the truth... I pay MY taxes.. Why shouldn't you??? I mean I live in a state where Personal, Real Estate, sales taxes help keep our local and economy alive... I know, taxes are high.... I know that I could spend/save the extra $ by dodging taxes... But... I do my duty to my Spouse, State and country... In other words... I pay my taxes... Why wouldn't you... Just my opinion... No flaming please... Good luck and best wishes...

RE: Outwitting A Smart Mouse

I used to use a piece of dog food smothered in Peanut butter. The thing that worked was to tie the kibble to the trigger, then smother with PB. OR take a crust of bread, mash it into the trigger and let it go stale. THEN put the PB in... Worked lie a charm for me... Good luck... Next step... Get a cat :)
